General ExactMats ® FAQs

What is ExactMats®?

ExactMats® is a lifestyle brand dedicated to protecting important and/or vulnerable surfaces from life’s everyday wear and tear, staining, scratching, and/or other risks that degrade their value and aesthetics - all while enhancing their appearance and function.

ExactMats provides solutions to meet the needs of vehicle owners, homeowners, professionals, and anyone else who values safeguarding their investments or belongings in a subtle and elegant way.

Are ExactMats® products made in the USA?

Yes!

ExactMats/ExactMade is proud to be a "Made in America" company.

Since opening our doors in 1997, ExactMats and ExactMade products have been made in America. We use the highest quality of U.S. and global materials and manufacture all of our products in Houston, Texas.

What's your turnaround time?

At ExactMats®, we understand the need for speed. That's why we work our hardest to create quality products for our customers, in as little time as possible. Below, you will find our product turnaround time as well as our shipping turnaround time.

Order Turnaround Time

We strive to produce and ship out all orders as soon as possible. Normally, this means a standard order will typically ship within 3-7 business days of an order being placed (often times sooner).

For custom orders, and orders that require templating, please allow 7-10 business days for order production.

Please note: Orders placed during peak season/our busiest times of the year and/or unusually high demand (such as around the holidays, and when sales are actively running), may be subject to possible extended production times. If you are at all concerned about whether a shipment will arrive by a certain date, feel free to reach out to us at Support@ExactMats.com

Shipping & Delivery

Delivery times are dependent on the shipping destination, the method selected, and current marketplace shipping conditions. However, good delivery estimate for orders with standard shipping is 2-5 business days from the day it ships out (except for Hawaii and Alaska, which may take longer).

Note: during times of extreme seasonal volume, such as Black Friday and the last 2 weeks of the year, shipping estimates may be extended by a few business days.

Note (Surface Protection / Home & Office Orders): During the hotter months of the year, our Home & Office liner products are exclusively shipped on specific days of the week. This is done to prevent orders from sitting too long in excessive heat, as this may alter requested dimensions slightly. Of course, we try to avoid this. Should you need your liners by a certain date, please contact us before placing your order.

Please see our Shipping & Delivery page for more information.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, in addition to shipping throughout the U.S., we also ship to Canada.

If you are outside of these countries and have a special request, we would be happy to get a shipping quote for you - simply reach out to us at Support@ExactMats.com.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most major credit cards, including American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa, as well as Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Facebook Pay.

Do you charge sales tax?

For Texas billing addresses, ExactMats® is required by law to collect sales tax which will be added to your order total and displayed at checkout.

Out of state orders are sold without sales tax.

How much will my order cost to ship?

It really depends on the size and weight of the order, as well as the shipping method selected.

We offer
FREE standard shipping on qualifying retail orders of $120 (USD) or more, after discounts, if any are applied. Shipping is additional for orders where the product check-out amount is less than $120.

We ship via UPS, FedEx, and USPS, primarily.

Most orders will ship via UPS, but specific products/orders to certain destinations (i.e: Hawaii and Alaska, or more rural areas, for example) may be shipped via USPS. Either way, we offer several shipping options to choose from at checkout.

Please see our Shipping & Delivery page for more information.

What is your return policy?

Please see our Return Policy for all information on returning any product(s).

Can I use multiple discount codes per order?

Customers may apply only one discount, coupon, or pricing code offer per order. However, gift cards may be used in combination with a discount code.

What if I receive a product that doesn’t fit?

All of our products are guaranteed to fit properly, defined as fitting the requested order’s specifications (ie: the measurements submitted for Home & Office products, and matching the OEM carpeted mat shape and size for automotive products, or when we create an even more comprehensive solution for a vehicle). We are “ExactMats” after all.

Any incorrectly-fitting products that are so as a result of inaccurate measurements being provided to us (for custom-requested Home & Office products) or inaccurate/incorrect selection of make/year/model/edition (for automotive mats) are not covered under our warranty and do not fall under the responsibility of ExactMats. However, as a customer-centric company, we do review orders on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to assist if we are able.

Automotive Products

For automotive products, we’ve found that the perception that something doesn’t fit properly can sometimes come down to a few factors: 1) The wrong mat was placed in the wrong area, or 2) The mat was installed backwards or upside down. If you believe that an automotive mat doesn’t seem to fit properly, we’d recommend taking another look at the placement first. Should you have any questions, our Support Team (support@exactmats.com) is here to assist!

If your order still doesn’t seem to fit, have confidence that we will work with you to make it right. While we try to be as perfect as possible, mistakes can sometimes occur. If a mistake has been made with your order, we will typically replace the product at no charge.

Home & Office Products

All of our Home & Office products are made to match the dimensions entered, so that when they are centered to the surface they’re made for, they are always a perfect fit (within 1/8" tolerance on any given side/dimension - this includes accounting for possible temporary shrinkage/expansion during/after transit).

Vinyl is a thermoplastic, which means that it can temporarily expand/shrink with extreme temperature changes, such as those of a typical shipping truck without temperature controls.

This means that during the hotter months, vinyl has the chance to temporarily shrink, especially if left in a hot truck, a garage, outside, or anywhere else that tends to get extremely warm/hot for an extended period of time. The same can happen during the colder months, causing temporary shrinkage/expansion. As such, for the best unboxing experience, we recommend being available to receive your ExactMats package upon delivery so that it does not sit in an enclosed box in extreme temperatures for extended periods of time.

We've accounted for any shrinkage/expansion when producing your product, but please note that it is possible to see small, temporary changes in the dimensions of a vinyl product between the time it arrives and the time it settles. After a few days in its new home, your product should relax into its correct size (within 1/8” on any given side). Some may take longer than others to correct themselves, such as during the colder months.

If you notice your mat(s)/liner(s) are off by more than 1/8” on any individual dimension, we recommend allowing the item(s) to settle for a few days on a flat, dry, non-glossy/unpolished surface within your home, and if you are still noticing any issues with the dimensions after a week or so on a flat/non-glossy surface, please reach out to us (within 14 days of delivery) at Support@ExactMats.com for assistance before attempting any DIY adjustments. In cases where the mat/liner is too large, it can often easily be addressed without the need to return - just send us an email so that we may guide you through the process.

Note: Incorrectly-fitting products that are so as a result of inaccurate measurements being provided to us for custom-requested products, are not covered by our guarantee/warranty.

Do your products give off a smell?

Off-gassing, not to be confused with harmful outgassing, exists in any form of plastic or vinyl. It occurs when gasses are released from plastic products. You’ve probably noticed this off-gassing effect when opening up a brand new shower curtain, pool float, or beach ball, for example.

Because of the formulations we use, our clear, virgin vinyls (brand new, not recycled) do not include chemicals that create a long-lasting or offensive smell. Of course, if you have olfactory sensitivity, you may notice a familiar, faint plastic smell. However, like other forms of vinyl, this non-harmful scent will wear off relatively quickly.

How should I clean my ExactMats mat/liner products?

General Care

All of our high-quality, vinyl products are super easy to care for. In general, we recommend ordinary soap and water (warm water works well) to help you maintain your product's original look. However, most ammonia-free (ammonia damages vinyl) household cleaners work just as well.

Additionally, from time to time (at least monthly) we suggest wiping down any mat with high foot traffic, such as our auto mats and floor liners. This helps to eliminate damage-causing dirt and grime from being tracked onto and absorbed into the vinyl, which can cause staining and other damage. For instance, oils from from asphalt can cause clear vinyl to turn yellow over time. If properly cared for, however, this does not happen.

Important Care Tips

Should a spill occur, or when cleaning ExactMats mats/liners with safe-for-vinyl liquid solutions, we suggest drying it in a timely manner to ensure there is no excess humidity or liquid on either side of the mat. You can quickly dry our mats by gently wiping it down with a soft cloth.

After cleaning/wiping down, we recommend letting the product dry 100% before placing it down on the surface it’s intended for. If this is not done, humidity can become trapped and cause damage to the surface the mat is being used on (this is especially true for wooden surfaces). For this reason, we also do not recommend using polish under or around our products.

Note: We DO NOT recommend use abrasive cleaning tools such as scouring pads or rough sponges (etc.) as this will cause damage to the mat, which is not covered under warranty.

Unboxing Your Order

Our products may be shipped flat, or rolled up, depending on its size and shape. In either case, we recommend opening your package within 48 hours as prolonged storage in a small box can make the material harder to work with when installing. In either case, we recommend exercising caution when opening the box so no damage may come to your order.

Flat-shipped products may simply be removed from the box and "installed" in place.

Rolled up, please know that the vinyl material "wants" to lay flat, and it's simple to make that happen quickly. If you ordered during the warmer time of the year, installation is as simple as removing the product and dropping it in place.

If you purchased during the colder months, the vinyl may be a little shy to relax. To speed up this process, simply let the product sit as flat as possible on a clean, unpolished/non-glossy flat surface in the sun or place in a warm area for a few hours. You can also use a blow-drier (6-10" distance from the product) set on warm, or submerge the product in warm water (if you submerge in water, please review our care FAQs prior to installation). We also welcome you to reach out to our Support Team for assistance.

Multi-item Home & Office liner or mat orders will also include a location & placement guide (typically included either in the box or on the outside of the box in an adhesive, weatherproof bag. We also retain digital copies for our customers). This guide, which will identically match what was entered in our order form, tells you exactly where to place each item in your order. Simply cross-reference the guide with the corresponding stickers on each product and “installation” will be a breeze!

Additionally, for the easiest installation, we recommend (especially during the hotter and colder months) being home to accept the shipment as it should not be exposed to hotter or colder temperatures for longer than necessary and suggest being ready to unbox/install your order within 48 hours of receipt.

Do your mats stay put?

Yes! All of our mats are designed to stay in place.

ExactMats® Automotive Mats

  • Both our original, clear ExactMats and our black, X-Edition Mats feature an abundance of specially-engineered carpet spikes (cleats) on the underside of every mat, adding impressive gripping abilities.

ExactMats® Home & Office Mats/Liners

  • Liners & Mats for low-pile, carpeted surfaces:

    • Our product, Riverstone (with grippers, for low-pile carpeting), features the same special cleated / carpet gripping spikes as our automotive mats, allowing for solid grip.

Note: As our product is slightly less rigid than those made specifically for use as desk/chair mats, we do not recommended this product for use under chair mats on carpeted flooring.

  • Liners & Mats for hard/flat surfaces:

    • All of our materials are designed to stay put with the assistance of gravity.

      • At 80Mil, our thickest and heaviest option, you can expect ExactMats to weigh about 1/2 lb per square foot, depending on finish.
      • At 60Mil, our second-thickest/heaviest option, you can expect ExactMats to weigh about 3/8 lb per square foot, depending on finish.
      • At 40Mil, our lighest and most flexible option, you can expect ExactMats to weigh about 1/4 lb per square foot, depending on finish.

The weight of our products is a big part of our "stay-put" formula, so the larger the mat, the more stable it becomes. Due to this and the nature of vinyl, which likes to hug the surface it's laying on, slipping is not typical. Additionally, all of our products are easily weighed down by the items placed on top of them. They are also reversible, allowing you to use either side. Every product has at least 1 non-skid side. This is extremely beneficial when items are placed on top of the mat, such as dishes or decor.

Note: There are certain surfaces that vinyl (especially textureless vinyl) may not be ideal for, either because they cling to the surface too little or too much. To ensure your protection preferences are a good fit for your surface, we recommend reviewing our product comparison guides (located in our FAQs, product pages, and order form pages) product descriptions, and other frequently asked questions (FAQs). And of course, if you are still unsure or you have any questions, we’re here to help! Send us an email: Support@ExactMats.com.

ExactMats® Home & Office FAQs

What are ExactMats® Home & Office products made to do?

ExactMats® is in the business of protecting vulnerable household and workplace surfaces from being damaged. Our products also enhance appearance, dampen sound, and absorb impact.

For our Home & Office products, we apply our technology to create precise-fitting coverage for everything from cabinets and drawers to furniture, closet applications, laundry rooms, storage rooms, garages, and wherever you want added protection.

How do I know which product is best for my use case?

ExactMats® Home & Office offers customization to create a variety of products for a multitude of uses, including shelf, cabinet, and drawer liners, as well as desk, table, and flooring protection, to name a few. Because there are so many uses for our product, it's important to understand which product is going to be best for your particular use case.

The major considerations for selecting the right material are pretty simple:

1) Where will you be using it?

2) How will you be using it?

3) How do you want it to look?

In general, we suggest using the following guidelines and comparison charts in making your selection:

Our Finishes

Crystal
™️
- Most popular (for non-glossy surfaces) when a fully transparent, glass-like appearance is desired.

Crystal™ is ultra clear, looks like glass, and is very durable. It comes in multiple thicknesses, including our most popular thicknesses, 40 mil and 80 mil (both varieties are designed for use on non-glossy surfaces).

- Our 40Mil (1mm) product is recommended exclusively for use as shelf, cabinet, and drawer liners. It weighs about a quarter of a pound per square foot, so it is stable, tearproof, and creates a strong protective barrier.

- Our 60Mil Crystal (1.5mm) material is also ultra clear, looks like glass, and is more durable than our 40Mil option. It weighs about 0.38 lbs/sf and is stable and tearproof like our 80Mil material. This thickness is also perfect for drawer and cabinet liner applications, as well as desks, flooring, and more, is best on non-glossy surfaces.

- Our 80Mil (2mm) product is recommended for a variety of use cases, including shelf, cabinet, and drawer liners, table covers, floor protection, and so much more. This is our thickest, strongest, and most durable option. It weighs about a half a pound per square foot. Just like our 40 mil option, our 80 mil products have excellent clarity and is best used on non-glossy surfaces.

Note: We do not recommend using this product on varnished, polished, or generally mid to high-gloss/shine surfaces (painted or otherwise) such as metal, glass, plastic, etc. Instead, we recommend taking a look at our other available double-sided finish choices.

Note: Crystal™️ formulations and tints may vary slightly.

Riverstone™️ - Most popular when a texture or a reversible finish is desired and is available for both hard surfaces and low-pile carpeting.

Riverstone

Riverstone™ is a robust 80 mil (2mm) thick and weighs about half a pound per square foot. It's recommended for a variety of use cases, including shelf, cabinet, and drawer liners, table covers, floor protection, and so much more.

We offer 2 Riverstone varieties: one for hard surfaces, and one for low-pile carpeted spaces.

- Riverstone - For Hard Surfaces: Our standard Riverstone option is made for use on hard surfaces, such as shelves, drawers, desks, tables, and hard flooring.

Unlike Crystal, Riverstone can be used on nearly any flat surface, glossy or not. This is because it is has the benefit of being dual-textured and as such, is reversible - one side is textured and clear and the other side is smooth and clear (like Crystal). Because of this texture, Riverstone also does a great job camouflaging existing surface damage, making it a fantastic option for any surface. It's microgrooved texture also improves airflow, allowing slightly moist items to dry faster, such as those recently removed from the dishwasher.

- Riverstone With Carpet Grippers (Cleated) - For Low-Pile Carpeting: Our Riverstone for carpeted flooring, which has the exact same texture as our standard Riverstone, is made specifically for use on low-pile carpeting and includes low-profile/high-impact carpet gripping spikes (cleats) for added stability. This product is ideal for high-traffic, carpeted spaces such as hall runners, under gym equipment, and so much more!

Note: As our product is slightly less rigid than those made specifically for use as desk/chair mats, we do not recommended this product for use under chair mats on carpeted flooring.

Note: Riverstone™️ formulations and tints may vary slightly.

What does "virgin vinyl" mean?

At ExactMats, we always strive to produce the highest quality products possible. That's why all clear ExactMats® products are made from virgin vinyl, which is pristine, first-generation material (ie: not recycled or made with reconditioned chemicals or additives).

In contrast, there are many other vinyl-based products that may appear to be made of new vinyl, but are actually made from old vinyl that has been broken down, blended together, and re-used to save manufacturers money. This results in a less superior product, which often smells strongly and has much less clarity.

What color are ExactMats® Home & Office liners?

All ExactMats® Home & Office products are clear and colorless.

Do ExactMats® Home & Office liners change color over time?

Our Home & Office products do not change color on their own and will remain in their original clear, colorless state when maintained properly.

Note: Exposure to a high degree of humidity can create some minor opaque freckles over time, which is usually not very noticable.

Note: Lengthy exposure to the sun or spilling something that chemically alters the color or chemistry of the material (i.e., a solvent, or something that stains) may result in product damage and is not covered under our limited lifetime warranty.

How should I measure my space and how can I ensure accuracy?

Measuring Basics for a Great Fit

Getting an item customized shouldn't be difficult, which is why we made our order form as intuitive as possible. Of course, we realize that not everyone has as much measuring experience as we do, so we're here to help!

Here are a few tips to ensure your order is as accurate as possible. Follow these simple instructions, and you should be able to nail it!

Measuring Rectangular Spaces

For simplicity’s sake, we’re going to refer to any four-sided shape, with two sets of parallel sides and four 90-degree corners as a rectangle, so a perfect square would also fall into this category.

As you might expect, most of the items we create for drawers, shelves, tables, desks, flooring spaces, and more, are four-sided. While we'd all like to think that our cabinetry is perfectly made, and every space it perfectly symmetrical, that’s not always the case and can affect the fit of a liner/mat.

When measuring any surface that appears to be a rectangle, it's important to know that any single shelf in any given cabinet or drawer stack is often the same size as the others (this is not always the case, so if you believe you have irregular dimensions, please read on). To confirm if this is the case, you can measure a couple of cabinets or vertical drawer stacks - you may find that you only need to measure one shelf or drawer in each stack.

Occasionally, however, there are small imperfections in the dimensions. For instance, when cabinets and drawers are built, there can be slight bowing of a side or slight variations in the length of two opposite sides of the unit - this can make the shape slightly irregular. But, there’s any easy way to adjust for that!

How to make sure you get the measurements right!

  1. Our favorite suggestion, in regards to measuring accuracy, is to measure the same space a couple of times and at different points. Note: not all spaces have perfectly parallel sides, so it's always best to double check your measurements (our motto is "measure twice, cut once").

  2. First, always measure the surface length and width at two sets of opposing points. This will help ensure you detect any possible differences in a shape if the space is not exactly symmetrical.

  3. When measuring enclosed spaces like cabinet shelves or a drawers, in the event you find that one measurement in a dimension (i.e., length or width) is different from the second (and if it is, it will likely be very slight), always use the shorter dimension to create the respective length or width of the rectangle. Note: when measuring liners (enclosed spaces) we recommend your reducing each dimension by 1/8” (both length and width) to ensure an easy drop-in fit. We recommend using either an ordinary tape measure or, if you’re adventurous, you can use a laser-measuring tool (just make sure it’s calibrated) if necessary, and reads measurements in 1/16th of an inch increments).

  4. For open surfaces (such as a table, desk, or other unrestricted spaces) we recommend using a tape measure, since there will be no sides for a laser to reflect off of. Always measure these surfaces exactly to the size you want them.

  5. For spaces such as drawers and shelves, we recommend reducing your actual measurements by 1/8” (width and length), which will allow you to more easily remove the liner for cleaning/organizing.

Selecting the Right Finish

ExactMats currently offers a variety of material styles/finishes.

The major considerations for selecting the right material are pretty simple:

  • Where will you be using it?
  • How will you be using it?
  • How do you want it to look?

In general:

  • Riverstone is our most popular style for shelf and drawer liners and in spaces where more airflow or a reversible finish is desired. It's also ideal for hiding existing surface damage. It is clear and strong, yet it allows the underlying surface color or grain to show through. The subtle, pebble-like texture (with a smooth finish on the reverse side) also increases its friction to reduce the likelihood of items sliding on it.
  • Crystal is most popular for uses where 100% glass-like clarity is desired and there is a limited likelihood of scratching, like on entertainment centers or other showcase pieces (non-glossy surfaces). While it does not identically duplicate the look of glass, it can look very similar.

Note: Both materials have the same chemical composition, strength, and sound-dampening qualities. While vinyl is not hard like glass, it is far more forgiving than glass, especially related to its impact absorption and sound-dampening properties (very helpful for situations such as an accidental knocking over of glassware).

Choosing Your Shape

Choose the overall shape you would like your mat/liner produced in. This is not corner shape (additional corner shape options will become available on applicable shapes). We currently offer multiple shapes to choose from, such as "Square", "Rectangle", "Circle", "Stadium/Capsule", and "Oval".

Note: Certain selections may add or remove fields within the order form. This is completely normal – our form only shows what is required to produce a mat/liner. For instance, if selecting the “Square” shape, you will only be required to enter one dimension (we will automatically apply the same measurement on the 2nd dimension). Similarly, when selecting the “Circle” shape, you will only be required to enter the diameter of the circle.

Need a different shape? No problem, we can help! Just reach out to us and we'll work with you to create the perfect solution!

Choosing Your Corners

The flexible nature of ExactMats products is such that they can be trimmed in a variety of ways, to each client’s liking. Here are our recommendations on what you may want to consider for corner cuts.

While you may request other corner shapes/trims, common choices are:

  • 90 degree, squared (hard) corners are our default corner shape, unless otherwise specified. This trim is ideal for those who would like a standard-shaped product to fit their surfaces with 90 degree, hard corners.

  • 1/4" rounded corners is another option. This trim style will leave a little gap in the corners and will provide a very small “lift” corner for easier removal in tighter spaces. This option is most ideal for shelf/drawer liners and surfaces with rounded corners. It adds a very finished look, too.

  • Cut corners are also available. This trim style allows for diagonally cut corners and is most ideal for surfaces with this unique shape.

Filling Out The Order Form

Each order form has several columns that make it easy for you to place your order. Below is an explanation of each column.

    1. Label: This column will automatically assign a letter, or combination of letters, to each item you describe. This identifier will be used to indicate exactly where each specific item belongs, making installation a breeze. In the event you have multiple pieces being made for the same size and location (i.e., dish cabinets), you needn’t enter each piece separately. Just enter the number of items your want in that size under “Quantity” and we will create your order accordingly.

    2. Room: Just as it sounds, you would enter the room (ie: "kitchen", "bedroom", etc.)  This will help you in sorting the items by room prior to installing. To make ordering easier, when you enter your first room (ie: “kitchen”) our software will continue to maintain the same room name for each subsequent item unless you change the room name. Note: If you’re only working in one room, this area needn’t be completed.

    3. Location: This column allows you to indicate what exact location within the specified room the item will be placed (ie: "drawer under microwave"). In combination with the room description, this field will help you to know exactly what drawer, cabinet, or other surface the item is intended for, within the room you’ve assigned.

    4. Finish: Use this column to indicate the type of material to be used. We currently offer a wide range of options. We suggest making a finish decision by reviewing our comparison guide here

    5. Overall Shape: Use this column to indicate the overall shape you would like your mat(s) or liner(s) to be created in. We offer multiple options to choose from.

    6. Corners: On applicable shapes, use this column to indicate your corner preference. Corner shape will automatically default to a squared corner. If you prefer rounded corners or cut corners, simply indicate your choice.

    7. Long Edge (Length) / Short Edge (Width): This space is used in to determine precisely what dimensions and sizes we will produce for any line item/entry. Some shapes may require both length and width, while others may only require one dimension.

    8. Quantity: In this column, you’ll enter the number of pieces needed for each line item/entry. As mentioned above, if you have three shelves within the same cabinet, which are the same size, you simply enter the dimensions once and the corresponding quantity.

What if I measure incorrectly?

While obtaining the correct measurements of a space is out of our control, we want you to have what you need! We also realize mistakes, like measuring errors, can happen. That's why we do everything we can to assist in situations like this. After all, we're here to help!

If you inadvertently make an error in a measurement, simply reach out to our Support Team (Support@ExactMats.com) for assistance.

Note: In the case of ordering pieces that are simply too long, we are able to instruct you on how to adjust the product from home. However, for orders with more complicated issues, we offer replacements at a discount.

IMPORTANT: For more information on how to measure, please make sure to refer to our measuring guide.

What if ExactMats® makes an error that doesn’t match what I put in the order form?

Our quality control process makes errors very unlikely.

However, if you do feel there has been an error, we welcome you to reach out to our Support Team (Support@ExactMats.com) for help. In the rare event that your order is not made exactly to your specifications, and you have not altered the item in any way, we will replace the product at our expense.

How are ExactMats® Home & Office liners and mats priced?

ExactMats® Home & Office products are typically priced by the square foot.

As you create your order in our order builder, you will see your price updated to reflect your current selections in square inches, which our system converts into square feet.

Should you have a promotional code to use, discounts will be reflected at checkout.

Do your products use adhesives?

Absolutely not!

Unlike contact paper and other lining products, ExactMats® liners and mats are made with a robust, FDA-compliant vinyl. This results in a product that is fully assisted by gravity to stay in place.

How will I know where each product belongs when I receive the order?

Regardless of the size of your order, our system is designed to make things easy for you.

That’s why our easy ordering process allows you to identify exactly where you’d like each item to go, in your owns words, down to the very room and cabinet/drawer (or other surface) you intend on placing it.

That way, when you receive your order, each item will have an identifying tag on it, specifying exactly where you intend on using it, (i.e., drawer to right of sink, Kitchen). Once you’re ready to install, simply remove the tag and drop it in place.

How much heat can ExactMats® Home & Office products take?

Let’s look at that in two parts.

First, our products are made of a fire-retardant material. In other words, the material will not hold a flame. It is self-extinguishing.

Second, As far as contact heat is concerned, we suggest using common sense. A hot cup of coffee should be just fine, whereas a frying pan right off of the flame is more likely to do damage. To be conservative, we suggest limiting heat exposure to no more than 150-175 degrees F.

What is "Low Pile" Carpeting?

ExactMats® Auto FAQs

What are ExactMats® Auto floor mats?

ExactMats® automotive floor mats are designed to precisely protect the floor and cargo areas of each vehicle from dirt, grime or other forms of damage, in order to extend the clean appearance, life and value of the vehicle. ExactMats are individually made to match your specific vehicle according to its make, model and year.

ExactMats floor mats come in two popular varieties; original clear ExactMats, designed to identically overlay your vehicle's original OEM carpeted mats and ExactMats X-Edition; a heavy duty replacement mat. Both products are designed to blend in with your vehicle's interior to look like they are part of the vehicle, not an added accessory or an overbearing, over-designed floor covering.

All ExactMats provide exceptional, robust protection to vehicle floors, trunks, and cargo areas with subtle elegance, unlike unnecessarily bulky, mass-marketed products. Made of our proprietary formulation, ExactMats are engineered to be physically lighter in weight than other mats while providing unparalleled strength.

We receive five star consumer reviews on all platforms, because our customers love our products and take special pride in their vehicles by protecting them with out distraction or unnecessary bulk.

In summary, we make two types of automotive mats:

  • Clear (ExactMats) are a great choice for those who are looking for durable, see-through protection. These mats were primarily designed to be used as overlay mats (they perfectly match your vehicle's OEM floor mats by make/model/year).

  • Charcoal Black (X-Edition) are an excellent choice for those who are looking for a heavier-duty replacement mat. ExactMats X-Edition also include locking grommets for supported vehicles.

Do your automotive products change color over time?

No, our auto mats DO NOT naturally change color over time.

Note: If you notice your mats are turning yellow, or other colors, it’s likely to have been caused by dirt, grime, debris, and oils that have been tracked in by shoes (if you feel they turned yellow for any other reason, please reach out to our support team for assistance).

We also offer a warranty for our auto products, but this does not cover accidental stains, damage, or anything else related to normal wear and tear.

How much floor area will my ExactMats® cover?

We design our automotive mats to match the precise dimensions of your original factory mats (OEM), so your new ExactMats® will fit perfectly on top of your carpeted mats, and X-Edition fit just right as a replacement, protecting every line and curve.

Some vehicles are available with a “UniMat” option, most often in the second row. This means that instead of ordering 2 separate mats, you can order a single mat for your back seat area. The UniMat still fits the exact shape of the individual mats, but also provides a precise fit across the middle of the vehicle floorboard; an area that might not normally be protected by a factory mat. The UniMat is a great option for people who want that extra bit of protection in their vehicle.

While we work with our partner dealerships to ensure that we have the latest mat templates for every vehicle design that hits the US market, occasionally we may not have captured something new yet. That said, if you don’t see your vehicle listed, or you are unsure about which model you should be buying, give us a call at 888.395.6004, or email us at support@exactmats.com, and we will walk you through a simple process to get you the protection you need.

Have an antique/vintage or imported vehicle? No problem! We work with our customers to create custom, protective mats for a wide variety of classic, collectible, and imported cars (even a few airplanes, boats, and RVs!) Just give us a call or shoot us an email with more information about your vehicle, and we will work with you to get a custom pattern created just for your car (custom ExactMats® available on a case-by-case basis and may include a small customization fee).

My auto mats don’t seem to fit. What should I do?

We design and manufacture every set of ExactMats® to fit each specific vehicle, exactly according to make, model, and year. Occasionally, customers will install their new mats and be concerned that there is an incorrect fit. Here are a few things to check first:

  • Look at the box to make sure you ordered and received the correct make, model, and year.

  • Next, check to see if your mats are facing the correct direction. Your ExactMats®will be the exact same dimensions and size as the original carpeted mats by make, model, and year, so make sure you have them rotated correctly to match up right.

  • Are your ExactMats®on the correct side of your vehicle? There are often subtle variations in design between driver and passenger mats, or even mats in the second row. Make sure you haven’t accidentally placed an ExactMats®on the wrong side of the vehicle or backward.

  • Do you have the original factory floor mats in your vehicle? ExactMats® are made to fit factory designs. Aftermarket mats that claim to be the same shape as the original are often, in fact, a different shape and/or size entirely. We certify our mats to fit their factory counterparts, so for the best fit, we recommend having your original mats in your vehicle, or you can simply replace your carpeted mats with ours, (X-Edition will more likely have a hole for the locking mechanism if your vehicle has one).

  • If you’ve tried these suggestions and are still having issues with fit, contact us at Support@ExactMats.com with photos of the ExactMats® on top of your factory mats. This will help our production team determine if there was some sort of error in the production or packaging process and help them resolve your issue right away.

What if I no longer have my vehicle's factory (OEM) mats?

No problem! Our X-Edition mats are perfect for this use and support locking mechanisms to prevent slippage.

Our clear ExactMats® are typically meant to be used as an overlay as they do not, by default, contain any support for locking mechanisms. However, should you be interested in using our clear mats as a replacement mat, we welcome you to give us a call so that we may customize them to match your vehicle's locking mechanism.

Both mat types include carpet grippers as well.

What's the difference between an overlay mat and a replacement mat?

An overlay mat sits atop the original, factory-provided (OEM) carpeted mat in a vehicle. It is identical in size and shape and fully covers these original mats. Our overlay mats are extremely clear. Customers who choose this product generally want to see their carpeting beneath, or the logo of their vehicle on the carpeted mat, to preserve the vehicle’s intended look.

A replacement mat is just what it sounds like. Rather than laying on top of another mat, a replacement mat completely replaces it. Customers who choose this product generally have old, damaged, or stained carpeted mats (or no mats at all) and want to provide protection that is similar to or better than the original carpeted mats. Or they just may wish to integrate the stylish look of our X-Edition mats into their vehicle. Additionally, our replacement mats come with matching locking support (on applicable models).

If my vehicle has options for both "seats up" and "seats down", which should I choose?

When you see “Seats Up” in the ordering menu, it means you will receive a mat that matches the cargo space when the last row of seats are in position for seating.

“Seats Down” means you will receive a mat that matches the cargo space when the last row of seats are set in the “cargo” position.

So, in selecting the right product for you, think in terms of how your vehicle will most often be configured. For instance, if you select the seats up option, and want to use the vehicle in seats down mode, the mat cargo mat will not cover the entire area. Likewise, if you order seats down, and transform the vehicle into the seats up configuration, the mat will be too large for the space and you may need to roll it up partially.
